How to Maintain Your Phone’s Battery

How maintain your phones battery

The main complaint most Smartphone users have is the shortness of their phones battery life. When cellular technology first came about, phones were mainly used for placing voice calls. However, now people do much more which can be a serious drain on the battery. Many higher-end smartphone users may find themselves recharging their phones several times a day depending on their app usage. Unfortunately, frequent recharging leads to a shorter battery life over time and can lead to the need for battery repair.

How to Increase Battery Life

There are ways to improve the battery life on your phone, hopefully, these handy tips from The Fone Guys will help you get the best performance out of your phone battery.

Temperature – Everyone puts some form of protection on their phone to help reduce the chances of it getting damaged. While this is a great way to protect your investment, it can also harm your battery life. There are specific temperatures in which phone batteries are designed to operate when you connect your phone to a charging point that temperature increases. Before charging your phone, make sure to remove the protective case so that the extra heat generated from charging is dispersed properly.

Software – Software updates not only help you stay up to date with the latest applications, they also serve as a way to ensure that your battery’s power is used efficiently across all processes. Most updates will also include the most recent changes to your phones battery saving mode for your specific operating system. This will allow you to recharge your battery less often, which will increase its lifespan.

Partial Charge – If you know you won’t be using your phone for an extended time frame, make sure you charge it halfway before storage. This extends the storage time while saving the battery, and is commonly used by phone manufactures when shipping out new units to retail locations.

Battery Replacement

Using the tips from The Fone Guys above, you can extend the life of your battery, but at some point, every battery will need to be replaced regardless of how well it has been maintained. There are many factors which dictate when a phone battery should be replaced.

You can use the system check function on your phone to get a snapshot of your battery health which will help you when making a choice to replace it or keep it. Many phones also have built-in alerts to inform you when your battery is critical and must be replaced. The longer your battery takes to charge, the poorer its health is, once it reaches 30% health, it’s better to replace it.

How to Replace Your Battery

Phone batteries do fail, and if yours has given up, it’s time to find a new one. Replacing your phone battery isn’t difficult, but there are a few guidelines you should follow.  If you have a phone with a removable battery, all you have to do is purchase a replacement that is manufacturer approved. Phones that are not equipped with removable batteries must be sent to the original company, taken to a provider service center, or to a reliable phone repair shop. If you need help with the battery of your phone, give The Fone Guys a call at 416-274-1150 today to see how we can help.
